This year sees the exciting culmination of years of hard work behind the scenes to produce the Romanum Lodge banner. Blood, sweat and tears have been woven into the fabric of the fantastic banner, which we are all proud to have displayed in our lodge (finally). Our most heartfelt congratulations on his being awarded Past Provincial Assistant Grand Superintendent of Works. Michael has worked extremely hard to attain the chair and to carry out his ritual work and this years honours list recognises this. Well done old chap.

As W Bro Peter Elsworth is proclaimed as Worshipful Master for the second year; Bro Gregory is passed. The members will all be saying 'bogof'. We look forward to a year filled with Golf....Golf...Golf and more Golf. T off is at 5.00 so get there for four (thirty) for real tea (and biscuits). Just don't touch me bourbons !
Banner will be dispatched from the manufacturers on 1st August

After so many years and months of frustration the latest version has been approved and after it was designed and created by W.Bro David Deer. Behind the scenes a great deal of activity and negotiation has finally resulted in a date being set for our banner dedication ceremony which is provisionally booked the for the 1st December 2015. Hold on to your hats its coming to a lodge near you.
We're going to the dogs ----it's official

Saddle up! Jono has organised a night out at Henlow dogs. The proposed date is Sunday March 22nd. Henlow Grey hound track, which is on Bedford Road (A600) Lower Stondon Beds SG16 6EA, be there for 6.00 PM. There are two deals, you can have a two course roast dinner for £12.50 each, or a three course a la carte meal for £15.95 each. Each meal includes admission (and exit) and race cards.
Let him know as soon as you can, as final numbers must be in by the 8th March.
Also invite whoever you like! But remember, once booked, you will have to pay as there are no cancellations at this rate..
St. George's 'show us your beef' night

On Saturday April 18th at Berkhamsted Town Hall, the patron saint of England will be celebrated in a St George's evening. Celebrating the history and tradition of those who didn't run away from the Romans and hide in caves or behind walls waving thistles and daffodils. For 5 fun filled hours there will be:
- A 3 course meal, with roast beef as the main course
(this beef will be hot and tasty and not fifty shades of grey) - A calling band, and all praktyse of anciente dances of Merrie England
- An enactment of St George v the dragon (please don't volunteer your wives)
- Songs of Old England, song sheets provided
- And for the more cultural some Shakespeare
(Cry Harry) Tickets are £ 35 each, the event is to raise funds for the Town Hall Trust, and are available from the Worshipful Master or the Town Hall Manager. No Daffodils or Thistles please, codpieces are optional. Chariots will depart at 11.00 p.m.

LODGE BANNER APPROVED

Having finally created and submitted a revised design for your lodge banner to Grand Lodge we have received word of approval. Seems like this one isn't 'too masonic'. It is a very simple design containing only four elements. W Bro Jono has pushed this through at record speed well done Boy!! (Full sized prints are available at a cost of £25 with all monies going to my retirement fund).
BURNS NIGHT HOOTENNANY

The next highlighted event is a Burn's night on Saturday 24th January. Venue Berkhamsted Town Hall, 196, High Street, Berkhamsted, Herts, which is being run in conjunction with Gadebourne Lodge. They have run a number of these events and they consist of wild dancing to a proper ceilidh band, a 3 course dinner (main either salmon or beef ) + coffee, a piper, and the usual words in broad Scots, to various Scottish items vis haggis, lassies etc. For those of you who have been to such events before, the Immortal Memory took 8 minutes last year, not the 35 I have heard of elsewhere. The price is £35 per head, there will be a raffle, it is for charity, and the start is 7 for 7.30 p.m. Please let the WM know asap if you would like to come, it is different and kilts are encouraged (traditional highland undergarments should be worn, ladies must not bring hand mirrors).
TOWER OF LONDON VISIT

As an encouragement the Worshipful Master wants the Lodge to have more social events. Starting with the Tower of London visit, on the 15th December, which is the day he goes to Paris ho hum!!! The event comprises an evening to visit the Tower of London with a Beefeater Tour after it being closed to the general public. The last visit included a fish and chips supper, a Free bar in the Beefeaters mess and there will also be a raffle held with all monies going to Charity.
The Date is Monday 15th December 2014.

THIS YEARS PROVINCIAL HONOURS

This Years Honour goes to W.Bro Anthony Strange LGR who was promoted to Past Provincial Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies. Not only has he served as a great mentor in the lodge but he has been active as DC in his other lodge and stalwart supporter of Taylor's lodge of improvement. Despite his continued health problems he remains as cheerful and helpful as always. Congratulations Tony well deserved !
NEW WORSHIPFUL MASTER INSTALLED

On the 16th september 2014 W.Bro. Peter Norman Elsworth was installed as the 38th Master by W.Bro. P. Spreckley. With the attendance of W.Bro. S. Hutchinson P.PROVGSWDB, and W.Bro. David Ferris P.SGD Assistant Provincial Grand Master along with W.Bro David Deer ProvGStB it was a sight to see 'Taylormation' in action. In a splendid ceremony The whole lodge joined together to make the evening such a joy.
